    Disk Cleanup Not Deleting Files

I recently ran a Disk Cleanup as part of my regular maintenance on my new computer. It had over 2.18GB of files to cleanup. That seemed a little high considering I run it every week to 2 weeks. It said it deleted all the files. I ran the Scan Disk again to be sure and it still had 2.18GB of files. I ran it again. Same result. I have a ton of room on the computer right now, but this could be a major problem down the road. Does anyone know why my Disk Cleanup would appear to be working and then not delete anything? Is there a solution for this problem? Thanks!

    Ever tried https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner ?

If you have the necessary boxes checked disk cleanup should be removing stuff.

Disk cleanup only cleans system files, temp files, log files and perhaps the 2GB junk files were created by third party software. You can download either:
    WinDirStat - Windows Directory Statistics

    or:
TreeSize Free - Quickly Scan Directory Sizes and Find Space Hogs

Go thru the list and decide what files can be deleted. If unsure, use mr. Google.

Another file that can take a lot of space is: Windows.edb
What is Windows.edb? Can I Delete It Or Change Its Location?

I don't know how I feel downloading 3rd party software. Is there another reason it may not be deleting the files? I have check marked the boxes on several attempts.

So the Disk Cleanup can be recognizing files that it can't delete?

Well, as the title suggests, I'm having an issue with Disk Cleanup with a new SSD I recently purchased. In all my years with HDDs I never had this problem. I've been running Windows 8.1 with an HDD for over a year now with no such problem so this is quite new & odd to me. The Windows Update Cleanup...
I've had this desktop for 10 months now. OEM purchase with 8.0, immediately upgraded to 8.1 and have applied all updates to date including the ones today. Never had any significant issues. I have a 1T HDD with over 820G free space and will probably never use half of that. Freeing up disk space...

When I ran my disk clean up for the system, it reflected "Windows update cleanup" at 106 mb. I feel sure it is left overs from my recent upgrade to win 8. To be sure though, is it ok to "erase" in the System clean up? walex

Disk Cleanup Fail in Performance & Maintenance
Hi guys, This seems to be a common problem but the solutions are pretty lame and don't do anything. When I run disk cleanup (system files) I get 6.60GB under System queued windows error reporting. Of course disk cleanup just hangs (at least it was still hanging after an hour and a half). I...
