Restoring files with File History is very cumbersome

I've had File History set up for the past few months on my desktop, with the frequency set to 10 minutes.

Sometimes, I need to go back to a revision of a file that is very old and that has been constantly updated since that time.

    After reviewing this page:

File History - Restore Previous File Versions in Windows 8

And after looking long and hard at the interface of the restore screen myself, it seems like the only way to navigate the date/time is by going back and forth with the arrows...... one by one....

Seriously? I have thousands of backup points even after drilling down into the appropriate folder. Is there no way to change the date manually, or am I forced to go back through X months worth of backups, one restore point at a time?

Seems like a Details view would be ideal for this but I don't see one.

Can you browse the File History folder itself. That would give you normal Windows Explorer layouts I think.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Unfortunately, that is also time-consuming. Finding the folders/files is definitely easier with this method, but actually restoring the files becomes an issue.

Each file that is backed up is renamed to [Filename] [TimeStamp].xxx

Which means in the event that I need to restore an entire folder with a bunch of files that's a few months old, I have to sit there and rename all of the files (to take out the timestamp).

I don't use File History. I do regular backup via Acronis True Image. Now I'm glad!
