Kernel-Processor-Power Event ID 37 (Warning Level entry)

Recently I noticed a game that I had been playing had started to stutter and slowdown more than usual, the performance issues were to be expected as the games engine is notorious for being poorly optimized, however these occurrences were fairly rare in comparison to the issues i'm experiencing now.

It seems for the last two days the performance of said game had been dismal, where i'd get a mostly consistent frame-rate before, I now only have a stutter riddled mess.

Looking through the Event Log I noticed a entry shown as; Kernel-Processor-Power Event ID 37, the text below it shows this; 'The speed of processor 0 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 7 seconds since the last report' the entry had been generated at '7:56pm' of today, which I found odd, as I believe that's when I started my game.

This had not been the only instance it seems, there were some entries from a few weeks back that show the same thing, however they were few and far in between. It seem I have 3 entries, all from today (12:00am, 3:56pm, 7:56pm) all warnings.

Is there anyway to fix this? If so, please respond.

Before I forget, I'll add this event log to further specify my problem to anyone who can understand it.

Update: I tried testing two games so see if both would generate the warning upon play, on a more CPU, and GPU intensive game (Skyrim) the warning did not come at all, the laptop seemed cool, and maintained a stable 50-60 frames on next to ultra while at the same time running a script and effect intensive set of mods during a fight with near a dozen models on screen.

Tried testing the lesser CPU, and GPU game (Oblivion), the settings are somewhat over high, used Open Hardware monitor to see heat levels of both GPU and CPU, GPU is at a cool (47-60) while in-game, while CPU (all 4 physical cores) are at a (37-45) while in-game. Everything on the surface seems stable, however, the pattern is everytime I run (Oblivion) the 'Warning' appears, and while using Open Hardware monitor at the time, I see that the heat levels for my cpu never rise far from what i'd get at the desktop (35-40.)

I think somehow turbo-boost is not recognizing my game, it is rather quite old and isn't optimized to use turbo-boost and hyper threading technology, and plays best with two cores rather than a quad core with turboboost and hyperthreading, while Skyrim was made much closer to the present context and expects 4 cores than anything else.

Hello all again, sorry for bringing this up once more, but it seems my problem has not yet been fixed. Recently I've contacted an associate who works/owns in a small computer repair company to check up on my currently posted and worsening issue. Worsening, as in the Kernel-Processor-Power Event ID 37 is now appearing at a daily occurrence.

My reason for calling this person is that I was hoping for him to potentially fix this problem and in the worst case scenario possibly help me call the vendor I've purchased this particular machine from for a replacement (my warranty lasts for a year and I've only been using this laptop for 3 months.)

We tried a multiple of things, the Asus Power4Gear software (however, the fellow seemed to use the version with the wrong OS compatibility) we monitored my processor clock in windowed mode for my game (Skyrim) and it seems my processor dips frequently (even in process intensive areas) to its base clock of '2.4ghz' rather than being at 3.4 which is above and recommended for the game.

So I suggested that we should return the laptop and take advantage of the warranty package that was included with my purchase as it seems that this laptop i'm using right now may not be functioning properly.

The opinion of the person I asked for help from, was that there was no need, that turboboost was working fine and the aforementioned entry was a false positive.

I didn't believe that was the case, looking back to Event Viewer entries, it seems the Kernel-Processor-Power entry had been appearing since I first received my laptop.

The performance of my machine had been stable the first month, the entries were few and far in-between, it would days before I another would pop-up, but month two and now coming three shows the logs to be appearing daily, and my once smooth frames for in-game play and mouse movement are now halved, along with odd performance jitters.

I asked about my issue here and at the forums of my vendor, all responses lead to my laptop malfunctioning somehow, a representative of the vendor I purchased from claims that whatever issue i'm experiencing is out of the norm, could be a driver or software, related issue and that I could potentially get help from their tech team.

At this point, I really have no clue as to what I should do. If anyone has a suggestion, please feel free to add.
