Windows 8.1 Pro x64 Slow and Freezing

    Hello,

So I bought a Acer Laptop (Acer Aspire E1-570G) that comes with 4GB of ram (2 months ago).
First problem I'd like to tell is that when I right-click to desktop, it loads for ~15sec untill it opens "Right-Click" menu up, and after that it loads about ~5sec, when I right click any icon, then it loads for ~5sec and when finally this right-click menu opens and I click "Open File location" then it loads for another ~10sec to open it's location. I saw that when you go to Device Manager and disable your graphics card and enable them, it would fix problems, also I tried ShellView, none of them helped.

    Second problem
is that after I updated my graphics drivers (NOT BETA) then after that at one time, all my 4GB will be used causing pc to freeze and I have to force restart it. Now I went and opened Task Manger and processes that "ate" my RAM were System and Service Host: Local System (Network Restricted) (8), first it's okay but after some time I was ablet to see how ram usage from normal, 1,8GB went up to 3.9GB in ~1min.

My friend has same problems and he has 8GB of ram, so me having 4GB can't be the issue.

I would be very thankful if you would reply me ASAP because it's pain in the ass to force restart, also I would mention that restarts are VERY slow, it loads the boot screen, then this white circle goes round and round, then I get black screen for few minutes and then it's useable.
I already minimized my startup programs!

Thank you for your time reading this and I hope you can answer my problem.

    Greetings,
    - Kenter.

Look at your Indexing Options in Control Panel, if you don't use Windows Search much, pare down the number of files and folders being indexed...

I do use Windows Search quite often, but I'll give it a try.

For these types of problems and considering this is a fairly new laptop I'd be forced to uninstall all the bloatware and all the other Acer related software they installed. This can take considerable time and requires a degree of patience.

After that I'd remove which ever trial version of anti virus software they installed for you using the special tool which you can find online for most of them. These really need to be completely removed.

Make sure all the pending Windows updates are installed then run CCleaner to remove all the temp files and old registry entries from all the bad stuff that was removed.

Or you can do nothing and live with slow and freezing but if you are like me and everyone else then you want a fast machine with no freezing.

My laptop came with Linux which I deleted and installed Win 8.1 Pro x64, no acer software installed or whatsoever.
I got license for Advanced SystemCare which already deleted my temp files, fixed registry etc.. I just start to think that it's about OS..

It seems like there is a memory leak happening somewhere that is eating up all your RAM. Can you boot into safe mode?

System Recovery Options - Boot to in Windows 8

This link will show you how to boot into safe mode.

Do that and look at memory usage and see if it is the same as it is when started normally. If it isnt, I would look at and drivers you recently installed or updated. If it is, then something else is going on. Try running sfc /scannow.

SFC Finds errors but fails to repair

Look at the second post in this thread if you have trouble getting it to work.

That could be the problem, the PC isnt meant to run Windows.
Also, is your copy of Windows original?

I have to say also...I found advanced system care to cause more problems than it ever fixed when using it to scan and fix the registry , especially if you have it running all the time in the background...that really slowed the system it was installed on down for me.

Seems like I fixed the problem somehow by going to msconfig and decreasing amount of services (non microsoft) and disabling startup programs, advanced system care was turned off and I'm sure that Advanced System care was the problem. Most of "System Care" programs cause more problems than without :P
