GPEdit vs RegEdit?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this has been asked before but is it generally better to tweak, disable and hide Windows features via GPEdit (Group Policy Editor) or RegEdit (Registry Editor) given the Windows version has both for the user to choose from?

I'm asking both from a security stand point and performance/stability stand point.

Which-ever method you choose it would be wise to make a system image with Macrium Reflect or something before making changes.
& back up the registry.
& create a restore point.

Thanks Edwin for the link you got + rep.

It's pretty much as I thought since Home Premium and lower versions of Windows don't include GPEdit and only advanced users would dare to modify the registry themselves manually, which means Windows reads the Registry first then enforces policies made in the Group Policy Editor.

I've always used RegEdit first then GPEdit only in the case I cannot find the method to make a certain change via Registry but for some reason I think having the Group Policy Editor adds to system stability in Professional or higher version of Windows, could be just my imagination though.
