I set up File History some time ago and pointed it at a 1TB internal HDD.
I did not take any special action to make File History use this drive.
A week or so ago I noticed that the drive was getting close to full to I decided to clean out all but the latest backups.
From that point on File History stopped working so I took a stand alone backup of my system and then turned off File History, deleted all File History backups, and turned File History on and pointed it at the same drive.
But now it just does nothing!
It looks like some Windows update has closed the loophole which enabled me to use an internal HDD.
Now it seems I will have to go down the VHD route.
Damn Windows 8!
