    That's excellent.

    You should be able to mount the old drive as a 2nd/slave drive to copy all your data from it to the new one.

    Ah, I forgot, you have a Dell Laptop. No way to mount it as a slave drive. What you will need is a Universal USB adapter, something like this which is the one I have: Newer Technology USB 3.0 Universal Drive Adapter NWTU3NVSPATA
