I was running my pc with Windows 8.0 Pro 64 bit and I now getting a screen with the Windows logo and I am now getting
a message "Diagnosing PC & Auto repairing disk errors may take several hours".

It has been like that for a couple of hours.

Any suggestions how long I should leave it running or perhaps I should do a fresh reinstall of Windows, I have the Microsoft DVDs?

Kind regards,

Walter

I never heard of that message before.
I would shut it off & see what happens.

In general, to repair stuff sfc & dism do the job.

You have the dvds so you have nothing to lose really.{IMHO}

I powered my pc of and left it off for about 2 hours then I powered it on and received the same message.

I guess it time to bite the bullet and do a complete reinstall of Windows 8.0 then update to 8.1 via the download then reinstall my applications then install my applications.

At least I keep my data on a physical separate drive.

Regards,

Walter
