Solved TaskBar Buttons have become unresponsive when stacked

Hi there,

I've noticed that in the past couple of weeks my taskbar buttons have become much less responsive when stacked. This is mostly in relation to internet explorer. When I have several stacked IE windows open and minimized, I sometimes have to click the taskbar button several times before the preview tiles come up. Then when I click the tiles the window doesn't always maximise, and instead they just disappear.

Is there any anything I can do to change this, as it wasn't happening before?

Thanks

Hello Ortega, and welcome to Eight Forums.

You might see if turning off Animations in the taskbar in your visual effects settings may be able to help improve how fast the taskbar thumbnail previews open some.

If that doesn't help, then you could also manually adjust the taskbar thumbnail preview delay time to be shorter.

Hope this helps, :)

Hi there,

I tried both those things but they don't make any difference. It does look though that this problem happens when I do some other activity on windows and then click the IE button, like for example if I open a folder and then click the IE button, it won't respond unless I click it a couple more times.

You might see if restarting the PC may help if something running in the background may be slowing things up.

If that doesn't help, then you could see if troubleshooting with a clean boot may help to reveal a cause.

Thanks.

I found out what it was. I installed a wireless mouse on my pc a few weeks ago, and one of the start up programmes linked to it was causing the problem. It was also slowing down my scrolling on the mouse, which I only noticed when I disabled it.

I'm not sure what the programme's function was though, because I can still use the wireless mouse even while it's disabled, and the problem doesn't recur. Weird.
