SFC and DISM Fail. Error 0x800f081f

    Hey Everyone,

I have a similar issue to others on this forum, but posted solutions do not work. Both SFC and DISM fail to complete. I'm stuck...need a new set of eyes here; solution cannot include an OS refresh or reset. Here's the detail:

    1. Windows Update works.
    2. Everything below is done in an elevated command window.
    3. SFC /scannow fails. Error is "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."
    4. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup completes without error.
    5. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth completes. Says corruption is repairable.
    6. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth fails with error code 0x800f081f.
    7. DISM log is full of Chinese characters (attached).
    8. SFCFIX completes. Says there is no corruption.
    9. Tried above in safe mode w/ networking. SFC and DCIM fail to complete.
    10. Ran Microsoft Safety Scanner against computer. No infected files.
    11. Ran SFC and DISM 11 times.
    12. Compared SFC and DISM logs to a set on a working computer (no errors). Exceptions in faulty computer logs are also present in working computer logs.

    Thanks in advance.

David Bailey -- yes, I followed your "SFC or DISM - Which to Run First" procedure. I also restarted after running DISM. In both cases, the utilities fail to complete as described above.

I performed a reset on the computer. The process was flawless and fixed the problem. Took me a few hours to reinstall apps and configure the experience. Computer is good now.
