    c:\swapfile.sys

Another swapfile, in addition to pagefile.sys seems to have appeared in Windows 8, in the root directory.
At 262,144 KB, it seems large enough for a memory dump.
Does anyone know anything about it?

Just a guess, but it may be used for the Hybrid Boot in windows 8.

It's a reasonable assumption - it would be nice to have this confirmed.

Question is, would C:\swapfile.sys disappear if Hybrid Boot was disabled?

No - with hibernation disabled and no c:\hiberfil.sys - and thus hybrid boot - the c:\swapfile.sys is still "in use".

But if you disable pagefile.sys then also swapfile.sys disappears.

    i deleted all of them...

    pagefile - swapfile and hiberfil.sys
i think they r useless for me...

im using S3 sleep mode, no need hiberfil.sys, sleeps on memory

Many programs will fail without pagefile.sys active and present. If you haven't run into that issue, then props to you for using software that never needs it.

Others may run into issues disabling pagefile.sys. To make minidump logs in case of system failure, it needs to be active too.

In earlier times I knew this problem. And sometimes there was an error message that was misleading.

Newer software has this error no longer with missing pagefile.sys.

This is correct. And this is the only program that shows this "error" - as far as I know.
