Hi guys

I have a HP PAVILLION G6 NOTEBOOK running on windows 8.1 64bit. Literally a week after buying my computer 96 months ago) the fan has gone absolutely mental. I have uninstalled software, cleaned, installed software to slow the fans but it sounds like a plane waiting to take off.
In fact its now embarrassing as when I take my comp outside the whole world hears it.
Can someone please help me. I will upload screenshots of whatever you need to help me solve this problem as I am now at my wits end
P.S as i write this my cpu is at 98 degrees, gpu the same and hdd at 47degrees and is only downloading a file and running chrome

Well you just answered your own question your CPU is at 98 degrees your CPU fan is trying to save it from self destructing. Looks like your up for a repasting of your CPU and GPU. Hopefully your still in warranty period.

I'm not sure it's that as tbh it started making noise almost straight away, like within the first week after I updated the bios . I really think its something to do with that but I don't know how to fix it..

Yes, I agree that bios change could be the cause. We will see about that and all other possible reasons.

Please run the tool found here and then post the results as attachment:

I'm confused by your post. Is this machine one week old or 96 months?

Did you look in Task Manager for something using very high cpu? If so, which process is it?

Had 2 of those same laptops come in last year at work. They run hot, and the cooling system in the is not so great. The best thing you can do it pull it apart (can be tricky, make sure you look up some instructions, and remember where you got each screw from!!) and redo the thermal paste with some decent compound (I used arctic Silver). I managed to get both down to the low 60s while idling. In my books that is still too hot but it's better than 94!!

Like the poster above said, check your CPU usage. I also found that after flashing the BIOS I had to go in there and reset it to defaults for it to "behave".

You don't want to slow the fans with software, because that means the computer will just shut down as it reaches critical heat, which can even cause damage to your laptop. The reason the fans are going so hard is because they are trying to get rid of that excessive heat. Think of a laptop as a rowboat with a hole in it, water leaking in is the heat, and the fan is the poor guy with the bucket trying to bail it out..

Here is the attached file. Just to let you know the first test said "sorry no memory dump found"...

Also as a side note if this helps, it gets hottest when watching high quality movies, internet and running programs like Traktor and Reason. EDIT: Whilst the computer is idle it is still running 41% with IDM and AVG in the corner

The computer is over a year old, sorry it was a typo. The reason I didnt look into it at first is because at first it was ok then a week later I thought it might be something Id done with software etc.

Now its just got to the stage where Ive chopped through everything I could have done and like 'csand' said the comp may just run hottter than most

I notice you have ArgusMonitor software starting with Windows.

A good idea is to disable the startup item for that or even temporarily uninstall the software completely, to see if there is any positive change. It could be that it is causing the issue entirely. You can use Speedfan to monitor temps if you still want, during testing.

Update Apple software to latest.

Update Realtek 8168 LAN driver:

Update Realtek card reader driver:

Update Synaptics touchpad driver:

And this part is optional (well it all is, it's your machine, heh) but you can uninstall AVG and use Windows Defender and Windows Firewall instead. That will likely let it run cooler.

Last idea is that CodeMeter could have something to do with it. You can test with that software disabled from starting with Windows or uninstall.

Finally, you should disassemble the machine until you can get at the fan and fan housing. Clean all dust, dirt or debris.

Set trackpad how you want it in Control Panel and above advice about AVG.
