    Hello drugo,

In Windows 8/8.1, the "Optimize Drives" tool will only defrag HDDs and TRIM SSDs instead.

Yeah that threw me at first too, but if you look carefully it will say Optimization for the SSD, rather than defragment.
Fwiw, I don't believe it will optimize a recovery partition on an SSD, at least not automatically...

Optimize looked and felt a lot like defrag when I just ran it.

Think of it like defragging a hard drive. You should TRIM (optimize) the SSD every so often (one a week or month) depending on if the "Optimize Drives" tool says that it needs to be.

WinSAT formal is just for performance assessments. Think Windows Experience Index (WEI) score.

Windows 7 had the "Disk Defragmenter" tool instead. It's about the same, but really only for HDDs and no TRIM included in it for SSDs.

DO NOT defrag an SSD ever, forcing Trim is not needed either because it happens when right conditions are met by interaction of SSD's firmware and Windows and it will not do anything to improve SSD.
