Hi all,

Well straight to topic.I have Dell Inspiron 14 R running Windows 8.1 professional updated from Windows 7.

The problem is laptop hangs up randomly for example when chrome is opened or i am reading a PDF file etc etc.

This happens when laptop is plugged in as well as when it is running on battery.

Is this a driver issue??or some other thing is causing the cause??

One more thing when the laptop hangs up nothing works even Cltr+alt+del and fan is on full blow.I have to do the hard shut down by long clicking on power button.

Someone please help me to identify what is causing this.

TIA

Your system specs tells the problem.

Download the tool to remove Norton, use it, reboot, set Windows Firewall and Windows Defender to Automatic. Start them too.

Thanks for the reply.

My system specs are a bit outdated w.r.t NIS 2013.I am using the latest version now.

Anyway i have been a Norton product user for many years now and this random hang up is a recent one.

I have had no problems whatsoever in using NIS 2014 with no performance degrade and such..

I am open to any other solutions.

Note to Mods: Please move this thread to BSOD and debugging one and i will post the relevant memory dump zip file created by SF debugging tool...

Ok, cool, we will check on the crash dump. The first thing I will say is to remove Norton.

The problem is laptop hangs up randomly for example when chrome is opened or i am reading a PDF file etc etc.

I have had no problems whatsoever in using NIS 2014 with no performance degrade and such..

Two conflicting statements, in addition to having a machine that crashes.

People pay lots of money for prescription drugs from a corrupt pharmaceutical industry all the time too. It's one of the largest travesties of our age.

You're at least the 4th or 5th person in the last 24 hours that says to me "Norton has always been good, this or that, etc..."

No, I didn't accept it as rude, it's just that I'm a computer dude and not a motivational speaker, heh.

Lots wrong with the machine; advice above applicable all the same.

Thanks for the update.

Thing is this laptop is about 3 years old now and originally came with Windows 7.The last update for all drivers was around 2012/2013 time frame.

I cant find latest driver versions even from official Dell drivers/download website.

Anyhow will try to follow all your steps.

Thanks again
