I don't have it plugged in right now.
When I do try it and click on Troubleshoot, how do I stop it quickly so it doe's not make any changes ?

Use the back arrow, at the top of the screen.

sorry for intruding, but I have a Lenovo Laptop.

why are you trying to keep the original Lenovo pre-installed windows 8 is the first big question.. as you definitely don't want to,

and 2nd, just make a system image of your system with something like macrium reflect (free) and then you can go testing all you want with your recovery usb etc..

if you are interested in doing so everybody here can tell you how to do a system image of your computer so that you can put it right back if you want to start trying things like seeing if your recovery boot works or not..

    it's extremely easy..

I reinstalled windows via the method of "clean" install windows 8.1 here from brink and my system is smooth as a baby's butt.. I don't ever want to try to keep the preinstalled windows and crap Lenovo puts on my computer when I bought it..

    just my 2 cents...
