Solved 8.0 upgraded to 8.1 with system restore problems

I installed 8.0 with the factory disk and for awhile the option to "refresh your pc" worked perfectly. However after the 8.1 update, I get a message stating to insert the 8.1 disk and it won't work with my regular 8.0 disk. I don't have an 8.1 disk. Is there a way to download an iso and use that to refresh the pc then use the original 8.0 key? I usually try to restore every 6 months because it's a habit I have had since 7. Usually my windows works fine but I run low on SSD space and it's easier to erase and restart everytime.

You will need to buy the DVD.

If your computer came with Windows 8.0 then the only way I know is you will have to buy the DVD.

Another unrelated question... I went back to windows 7 because of too many random driver problems and other stuff that pissed me off. I was trying to install 8 PRO with the serial I purchased from microsoft but it says this serial cant work when i try to activate. Any ideas? It takes my Media Center upgrade serial but it says i have to activate the pro version first. I'm using VMWare Workstation 10. With windows 7 there was a way to call in and re-activate. But i can't seem to find that option
