Seeking advice from users of Revo, Advanced Uninstaller...

    Hello,

I'm trying to decide on an "uninstaller" software. It doesn't have to be free as I don't mind purchasing the software as long as it's from a somewhat reputable company that wont disappear after 6-12 months or keep throwing out updates just to make additional cash for no reason.

I've read reviews for several uninstaller software publishers including downloading and testing some of them:

    • Revo Uninstaller
    • Advanced Uninstaller Pro
    • IObit Uninstaller
    • Ashampoo Uninstaller
    • Uninstall Tool (Crystalidea)
    • And several other smaller ones.

So I have a few questions:

    • I'm wondering if there are any "uninstallers" from more reputable and larger software companies?
    • Have you had any personal experience with any of the above uninstallers?
    • Do you have any other uninstallers to recommend?

System stability is important to me this time around as I just did a fresh install with Windows 8.1 from 7. Thanks for any information and help.

I have and use Revo Uninstaller, the free verions....works great. Don't know much about the others except one, IObit....bloatware, system resource hog and their software has been known to cause BSOD.

Thank you bassfisher, that's good to know about IObit. For some reason it got very good reviews or 5 stars in some places and I didn't think it deserved it imho. On the other hand, I do like Revo (using the 30 day Pro trial) so far, but still looking if I can find a more stable company. I'm currently looking at Norton Utilities, but it doesn't seem to have any "installation monitoring" component, or at least none that I can see.

I have the Revo Uninstaller Pro (paid version). The free version works good but will only show and allow uninstalling 32 bit programs. The Pro (paid) version will also display and allow uninstalling 64 bit programs.

    I like it a lot.

It searches for leftover bits from an uninstalled program & lets you decide whether to delete them.
    I delete them all.
