Hey EightForums friends,

I was wondering what you'd recommend for the following:

I want a program that synchronizes my files with my external hard drive.

The client I use right now, Memeo Instant Backup, is decent, but has the following issues:

1. Takes a lot of resources to run
2. Is extremely slow
3. Doesn't mirror deleting files on my hard drive, keeps them on my external and causes it to get full

Is there a program I can use that just literally copies my user folder onto an external drive, and as I delete/move files on my hard drive, its mirrored on the external hard drive?

Thanks in advance,

David

Jim, not only did the program work just as you said, but it completed what I needed in less than 24 hours.

With Windows scheduling, I now have it set to run once a week.

Just curious - how often do you run the program?

Thank you so much for this suggestion. It has made my life much easier. :)

MirrorFolder

You might also consider MirrorFolder.
I have run this rather more professional tool for years now on my Win 7 machine.
Not on my Win 8.1 laptop until now, but it is supposed to work on this OS version as well.

MFold gives you a lot more flexibility in what to mirror in what way at what time.
Not free, though.

If you're interested I can give you some do's and don'ts regarding this peace of software.

Cheers

David, I have different folder parings and some I run every week. I use Macrium to do an image of my OS every Month after MS updates and the storage folder for the images is done after that. I have two external drives (X & I) and back up some things on both as you can see by my folder parings.

Can you please explain why you are using this software? Is it for backup?
