I used to have System Reserved on separate partion to C:\ but on my last fresh re-install, I decided to make C:\ and System Reserved in one partition. Here's what shows on Disk Management:

My question is, which is better. System Reserved on the same partition with C:\ or on a separate partition?

The question is how did you end up with so large system reserved partition, it's usually about 100 MB. On the other hand it might be a reserved backup partition with all the stuff needed if that's a laptop. Now, if that's a partition you can't just simply put it in another partition. You can format it and merge it with first partition but it will not be a partition any more.

I did that at the windows installation option.

I create new partition on an unallocated disk (an SSD). The installer asks to have an additional partition, I clicked yes. Now I have System Reserved partition (Drive 0 Partition 0) and the other is Drive 0 Partition 1.

To merge them, I delete the Drive 0 Partition 1 so that now the partition is back to unallocated again. I clicked on System Reserved and choose Extend. So that's the story how I got System Reserved as C:\.
