UEFI Boot removed after HP Updates

This brand new HP Pavilion Laptop had a UEFI Boot entry in the BIOS.

I used the HP Support Assistant to update the HP functions and programs, and it downloaded a new UEFI diagnostic which it installed as a partition on the drive - It was already there to begin with, but the new version removed the entry "UEFI Boot" from the Bios Boot Selections and now it just says "OS Boot Manager"

Therefore, when I try to use "Advanced Start" options from PC Settings, I no longer get the options to go into Safe Mode or the other recovery options, the system just reboots and F8 does absolutely nothing.

Other than setting my BCD to Legacy Mode, I cant get this into Safe Mode.

I burned the recovery disks which were 6 DVDs, will that put the original OS back in? I do have the free 8.1 update available, maybe the new UEFI only works for 8,1? I'm just trying to figure out how to put the UEFI Boot option back in, the original UEFI tool cannot be downloaded from HP.

Is Windows Boot Manager still first boot device?

yes, is that why I can't use F8? I'm going to try a DISM

Safe Mode F8 does not work Windows 8.
Safe Mode - Start Windows 8 in
Safe Mode - Add to Windows Boot Manager in Windows 8
Safe Mode - Add to Desktop Context Menu in Windows

    OEM base partitions.

Partition 1 is the OEM Windows 8 tools partition.

Partition 4 350mb is the Replacement Windows 8.1 tools partition.

The Windows 8.1 tools will not work with a OEM Windows 8 Recovery Partition.

nah, I never do any of that stuff until a DISM fails, which It didn't. DSIM found a corruption, probably caused by the new HP UEFI update - I'm posting from Sage Mode with Networking NOW. The Advanced Startup in PC Settings now works.

    Thanx for trying though

Well it worked, until the customer came to pick it up, then it neglected to continue to work. That's why I always use legacy boot loaders, if windows 8 was Apple, this crap wouldn't happen. I can just see this happening on my iPhone, I press home + sleep buttons, and the power down button won't appear. That's how Apple products would work should MS make their OSes.
