    Hi

I finally found out how to do a Backslash so I got to try the sfc offline, unfortunately it did not work, I got the message

"Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair services"

my OS hard drive was found to be the f: drive so I also tried it at the f: dos prompt but neither worked.

Any ideas how to fix this?

    Thanks

    Daniel

You have to run cmd.exe as Administrator. Right click on it and select Run as Administrator.

Did you run diskpart to find out what drive letters are assigned to the system reserved partition and the Windows OS partition ?

Yes I did, the f: drive was shown as the OS Partition, the name and size matched.

Please look at the screen shot in post #15 above. Also, use the procedure in Post #19 instead of SHIFT+F10

    Hi,

I am probably being a bit thick here but I do not understand your point, my diskpart directory list showed the System reserved
partition and the OS partition called Main Hard Drive, (truncated to Main Hard D) which is what I named it at 1.36TB, that partition is shown as f: I do not recall the drive letter of the System reserved partition but as soon as I can get to that PC I will run the process again and check it then let you know.

If I am off base please let me know.

    Regards

    Daniel

    Post #15:
With my PC: When in Windows, the reserved partition is hidden and Windows OS partition is C drive.
When in Command Prompt, the reserved partition is now assigned to C drive and the Windows OS partition is assigned to H drive. So you need to find out what they are for your PC from diskpart.

With my PC: the command would be:
    sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=H:\Windows
