Solved Spontaneous awakening

Occasionally my PC "wakes up" of its own accord.

I assume such an event would be recorded and the info available via the event viewer but I don't have a clue where to look.

Tried those but can't really see the culprit.
Was also a bit confused by the fact that the timestamps were not local time.

You might also check to see if any devices (ex: network) are set to allow to wake PC.

It's sporadic.
For example I put it into sleep mode this morning about 6:15 and it woke up about 6:25.

Maintenance was set for 3am.

In addition to mouse and koybeard my NIC is allowed to wake PC.
I had assumed that the wake from NIC would be restricted to the LAN, but I'm pretty sure nobody but me was awake at 6:25am.
Although it is possible that number one son was doing things quietly for a change.

Is it possible that WAN activity would cause a wakeup?

Yep, having your network adapter device set to allow to wake PC could cause it to randomly wake up. I'd recommend to turn that off to see if your PC continues to wake up.
