Hello all,

FYI, I am now getting an Event ID 513 log every time I create a System Image backup using Macrium Reflect Free; however, it doesn't seem to affect the restoral because everything seems just fine after same. Since I have never noticed these logs when running Win 8.0, I'm wondering if this is a brand new issue with 8.1? So, here is my Macrium Free version information and a copy of the Event ID 513 error log. It would be nice to know if anyone else is seeing this log on 8.1 or can confirm it is not present after an 8.0 backup.

I'm sure you checked for an updated version or a version compatible with 8.1. I'm sure you know that if there's not a compatible version from Macrium out yet...that the devs for Macrium are working on it. All in do time...but the waiting sucks.

Thanks for the heads up, Macrium users should find this helpful or at least put them in the loop.

I use Acronis 2014 for my needs.

Apparently Macrium is already aware of this issue and they are referencing it when using their latest version on 8.1:

Event 513 errors in Windows 8.1

So it appears that this latest version is already compatible with 8.1 and I believe they are hinting that this might just be an 8.1 issue that is not directly related to their software. So, anyone that is waiting for an 8.1 update may not get it for quite some time.

I bought Macrium & get no messages like that.

Maybe it is a Free Edition thing ?

A lot of free versions of programs have popups that the paid versions do not.

Hello,

Could using Macrium Reflect Free while this Event 513 issue is not yet solved, cause problems to the operating system?
Do you suggest to wait until a new version is released, before doing my backups, or should I not worry?

Thanks.

In any case Macrium Reflect Free should work well all the same, even if the Event 513 error appears?
Macrium Reflect Free should work well under Windows 8.1?
Thanks.

I never noticed the error message. I made a complete image of my drive, all partitions, with the default macrium settings. I took a deep breath and used the rescue disk to restore that image to the drive and it all worked swimmingly. This was about a week ago.

Also, I just got an update for Reflect Free to 5.2 - maybe that will eliminate the message.

MR updated their free version to 5.2.6424 -- and soon after, there were numerous postings about errors.

They held off releasing the paid version until 5.2.6427 was out.

If you were having trouble with the 6424 build, try updating it to the 6427 build.
