Hello I'm new to windows 8. I bought a new laptop(Samsung Notebook NP370R4E) and this laptop doesn't have a dvd rom and does not come with any disc just a preinstalled windows 8. I recently updated my windows 8 to 8.1. I bought an ssd and I want to replace my current hard disk. What I want is to install a fresh windows 8.1 to my ssd without loosing the original os/oem on my laptop is this possible? What are the steps that needs to be taken before removing my current hard disk? I'm not worried if I loose all my files in my current hard disk I just want to save my original/oem os. Thanks in advance.

What Are You Going To Do is To Create A System image Backup .
And To Do This You Have To Go To Control Panel\System and Security\File History And Press on System image Backup That is Found on The Bottom Left Corner . When Entered Select Your Backup Target (The Harddrive You Want To Backup) And Proceed

Hello thanks for the reply. I have this samsung recovery what will I use? Anyway edited my first post. I'm trying to "Remove everything and re install Windows" it says "Some files are missing your windows installation or recovery media will provide these files". This error comes because I updated my windows to 8.1? If I use the system image will this reinstall my windows 8.1 or windows 8 only? I just want only a clean install of windows 8.1 to my ssd without loosing my windows key preinstalled on my laptop

The Windows Recovery USB drive & Recovery Partition can be very problematic, I recommend you also make a Windows System Image.

Factory image is too big 14.7GB I can't burn it into dvd any options on how to resize that big image? Or can I use my external hard drive? I think the date on the backup point is the day when I bought this laptop I think it will revert to Windows 8?

USB drives are cheap.
If they work with a Samsung.

You might be able to use it.You could test it.
Personally, I think a usb would be better.
16 GB usb drives average about $15.
Some are cheaper.
Some more expensive.

Putting it on a TB drive to me is a waste of space.

It's up to you.

Macrium will compress the image by several GBs.
With Macrium 16 GBs should be plenty.
