Solved How do I back up Windows 8.1?

Hi all,

I deleted my Samsung Recovery Partition. This became a problem that I sorted by downloading Windows 8 ISO files online, then used WinToFlash to make the bootable from my usb. My product key is embedded so all's well now.

However, (having learnt from my mistakes) I want to make a copy of Windows 8.1 on my usb now, seeing as I have just upgraded. I scrolled through the EULA noting that I am permitted to make a copy, but I don't know how.

I got as far as creating an image, intending to make a new recovery drive then realised I needed a recovery partition. If I make a new partition, and name it 'Recovery' according to YouTube videos, will this carry over the ISO files?

The only other was I can think of is to download a Windows 8.1 torrent, convert that and keep it on a usb. I am lead to believe this is bad but I don't understand why, when I have paid for everything and just want to keep a usb copy for myself.

What is the best option, in your opinion? Do I have any more?
(Before anyone says it, neither Samsung or Microsoft will provide and kind of installation media and I have no access to Samsung Recovery Software either on my laptop or anyone else I know.)

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks very much, when I have a spare £30 I will download it (I'm a skint student).

If all is well at this time, Macrium Reflect can meet all you backup requirements and its free so those recovery discs would only be required if you wanted to restore your laptop to day 1 status. Good luck and thank you.
