Solved Shrink C:\ drive for Linux Installation
Hi there,
I have Windows 8.1 Pro (x64) and want to install Ubuntu 13.10 (Saucy Salamander)
So, for the process I want an extra partition. I only have Local Disk C: and want to shrink it to continue
Is Shrinking Partiton and installing Ubuntu in it is possible(without harming my PC).

To give you a direct answer to your question. Yes, it is possible to shrink you C drive and install Linux onto the free space.
You have to keep some things in mind though:
A special bootloader will be installed by Linux. So you must chose every time you boot the pc if you want to boot Linux or Windows;
If you decide you want to delete Linux you must also repair the MBR (Master Boot Record). Otherwise your pc won't boot to Windows directly.
