This is in my event log like 10932098434 times. I do not know how to fix it, I have read a few things but nothing seems to be the right thing to do.

The machine-default permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID

This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

I get the same error on both my 8.1 Beta and 8.1 systems. The original 8 does not seem to have the errors. I have tried some things to stop them which did not work. So for now, I have decided since 8.1 is using BingWeather 3 that I will wait to see if something gets turned on on the 18th.

Sorry I don't have an actual solution.

what app is causing this, I don't even know? If i knew maybe I could uninstall it if it's something unimportant.

Its the Weather App on the Start Screen. Every time you open it you probably show the errors, check the time codes.

I will have to check to see if the errors continue in 8.1 if you do not hold the App long enough for the thing to rotate to make sure it is shut all the way down. Since I am in Windows 7 now, I will have to check later.

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro RTM and I am getting this exact same error. I have tried to fix it by editing the registry and then using dcomcnfg to set the permissions without any success. I have noticed it is not just Bing Weather but it seems to be apps installed from the Windows STORE that cause these errors in the event log.

Maybe this will get fixed by Microsoft when 8.1 is released, I doubt it. I think I may have to do another clean install and this time use a Microsoft Account. :(
