Solved Ready Boost

Which service does windows use to run ready boost? My win 8 pro says the service is turned off. Will it help improve performance?Scince I have os system on a SSD drive will ready boost still work? I probably will use readyboost on my laptop instead. TIA

ReadyBoost uses the Superfetch service that should be enabled and set to "Running" and "Automatic".

In your case, ReadyBoost is not going to help your performance since you have a SSD. You may not even have the ReadyBoost option available for the USB since you do have a SSD. The tutorial below can give you more information about ReadyBoost if you like. It's for Windows 7, but it's the same in Windows 8.

ReadyBoost uses a flash drive or similar device as a cache for the hard drive. A fundamental concept of caching is that the device used in the cache must be faster than the device being cached. SSDs are typically faster than flash drives so ReadyBoost would likely impair performance.

ReadyBoost is most useful on systems with limited RAM (less than 2 GB) and slow hard drives. It is normally disabled by default on SSDs.
