Hello all - I'm completely new to Win8 but am currently using it on an Acer Revo RL70 as a media PC. Because the Acer Revo consumes such little power, I'd like it to run 24/7. Unfortunately, when I wake up in the mornings I always find it shut down. By searching event viewer, I noticed it always occurred at 1am ish. I initially thought it was my Windows Home Server 2011 backup fouling things up, so disabled this, but still the same problem.
I noticed 3 events precede the shutdown. The 3 events are all identical, and take place at the same time. The event is:
Info - UserModePowerService. Event ID: 12 Task Catagory: (10)
Process C:Windows\System32\atieclxx.exe (Process id 336) reset policy scheme from (8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c) to (8c5e7fda-e8bf-4a96-9a85-a6e23a8c635c)
As you can see, the reset of the policy scheme is brinding up the same code/number. Following these 3 events is the
Info - User32 Event ID: 1074 Task catagory: none
The process c:windows\system32\winlogon.exe has initiated the shutdown of <pcname> on behalf of user/<pc name> for the following reason - no title for this reason could be found.
I'm afraid I'm not too clued up on windows event codes, but I cannot find much info on UserModePowerService or the event ID 12. I havefound that the atieclxx.exe program is from my (intergrated) graphics , but I do not know why it would want to shut down my PC
I have looked at the power options and have disabled all references to power saving and sleep.
Any advice on this would be greatky appreciated
