CPU Turbo Boost

Hi. I have question about the cpu max/min power state in the power management menu and how this affects turbo boost. What is the lowest min setting I can have before turbo boost is disabled? I know that max has to be at 100% but I heard that the min setting can be set to as low as 90% before it disables turbo boost.

I have mine set at 5%-100%, and my processor which normally sits at 1.6GHz at idle, rises to 4.2GHz full speed when demand calls. The nominal rated speed for my CPU is 3.4GHz.

Ok thanks. So i guess I guess my friend was wrong. That means the min setting does not affect turbo boost. Does anyone else have similar results?

I have read somewhere that to disable Turbo Boost you should set the maximum state to 99%. It could be wrong though.
My laptop used to overheat when playing games (CPU temps reach 100C) but after setting the maximum state to 99%, the temperatures reach 85C max occasionally. So I think it has disabled turbo boost.
