After upgrading to the Win 8.1 upgrade I can no longer find the full backup selection and clicking on the change backup settings only shows a little clock. Has the backup function been removed from win 8.1?

It is system image backup in Windows 8.1
1. Start Windows PowerShell as admin.

2nd Copy in: wbadmin start backup-backup target: E:-include: C:-quiet-allCritical
Replace if necessary E: depending on where you want to save the image file.
3rd Enter

Recovering:
Starting with Windows 8 USB installation media and select advanced startup or open run and copy:
C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Shutdown.exe / r / o

Or just download Macrium Reflect Free. No need for command line strings. Works like a top on Win 8.1:

Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Go for the Macrium Reflect Free. BTW, I tested that command line method a while back and I even embedded a "how to" in one of the previous forum threads. Unfortunately, I went on a misguided image deletion rampage and mistakenly deleted the images in my post here:

http://www.eightforums.com/performa...-create-windows-8-1-preview-system-image.html

So, having gone through extended testing with the two, I have settled on Macrium Free as the best solution.

Good luck with any decision you may make.

Sure, it's easier with MR free. I use it with.
Suffice it to install "Macrium Reflect" once, the program can make a rescue CD / USB stick, then you can uninstall the program.
Works great to both save and reload the image file with only USB stick.

Good to know Macrium makes life easier in this case.

Thanks guys.
