    FlashUtil Files Keep Getting Created.

Because I don't want Flash Player Utilities running at startup I have renamed the 2 files that run at startup:

    C:\Windows\System32\Macrome\FlashUtil_ActiveX.dll
    and
    C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\FlashUJtil_ActiveX.exe

Somehow they got created again. The ones I renamed are still there but somehow the original files are back in the folder again.

    I want this disabled!
There are no references to this in any of the 'Run' registry entries and I don't see a Service for this either.
Anyone have an idea how to prevent this annoying piece of garbage from recurring?

    James

FYI, I have them running as well. The run at startup may be required for the Flash program to function properly when you open your browser. I also see no easy way to disable it; and, if disabled, Flash might not function properly work when you opened your browser and surfed to a site that requires Flash. With that said, if you don't like it running at start-up, and you don't need Flash, why not just uninstall it? Good luck.

First, I ran a video on IE10 and it ran fine even though FlashUtil wasn't running.
Second, There is no entry anywhere to uninstall it. Even in Turn Windows features on or off.
It must install during installation of Windows 8
I'm more curious as to why and how the files got replaced as they did.

OK, you are referring to the inherent version that comes pre-installed on IE10 in Windows 8. Don't have an answer for you on that one but hang in there and someone else will be along to assist you shortly. Good luck.

hi,maybe ,go to IE open tools and manage addons ,and disable it there .

or for the ones you renamed in start up i use microsoft autoruns , download and run it ,right click autoruns. ext and choose run as admin , go to logon tab and uncheck flashplayer utility ,and any other that you don't need running
    Autoruns for Windows

they were recreated because when installed they were told to run at windows startup and the program seeing that they had been changed ,just recreated them

First I don't see a listing like you have in the screen shot.
I have zero tolerance for startup programs. I don't want or need this to start.
I want to find a way to disable it.

In Windows 8 MsConfig doesn't show the startup items. One needs to go to Task Manager.
I have third party software with a startup manager and it don't show up there.
I've checked the 3 'Run' keys in regedit and it isn't there. Unless there's another 'Run' keys I'm not aware of.

    Hi again JamesJ,

Windows 8 comes with an integrated version of Flash that is considered to be an integral part of the operating system. There will be no evidence of its existence in the add/remove programs area and if you try to jury-rig a way to uninstall it, you may damage your OS in the process. My advice is to either live with it or try using FireFox which is a great alternative IMHO. Good luck.
