Made some observations regarding defragmentation. Even on a loaded terabyte or larger drive a fully defragmented disk only takes 1 minute to defrag if it has properly completed the task before and only when not interrupted by other system activity.

Just a friendly advice for those that dont know: Defragmentation can become a quite lengthy task witch takes multiple hours or days to complete on the first,second,third run.

Good practice proofs that its best to start defragmentation manually right after your first clean boot of a new install and quickly run again after installing or uninstalling data (the cause of fragmentation). If you leave your windows 8 pc
powered on then, auto maintanace should do an admirable job of that.
