    sfc /scannow problems

so i ran sfc /scannow three times (restarting the computer after each attempt) and i still get the response that some corrupt files weren't fixed. i tried going to the CBS log but it keeps saying "access is denied". any ideas on how to fix this problem?

I think you need to copy that file to a different location (e.g. desktop) before you can access it.

Hello mastarda, and welcome to Eight Forums.

In addition, you could use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to create a sfcdetails.txt file to read your SFC results.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - Run in Windows 8

    Hope this helps,

Might read this update page which causes some to have a rather larger SFC scan error...
A servicing stack update is available for Windows RT and Windows 8: June 2013

    The fix for the majority of those experiencing the SFC errors has been;
Might try from command prompt (admin)
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Usually the CBS log you would need to copy and paste it to your desktop - then you should be able to open the desktop copy.

so i can read the log if i copy it to my desktop but it is wwwaaayyyy more complicated than what i thought it would be. i tried the DISM commands and it found no problems but i ran sfc again and it did find more problems. and i tried the findstr command but an empty txt pops up on my desktop.
any ideas how to fix the corrupted files?

    Mastarda,

If you haven't already, see if doing what's in the blue note box at the bottom of Option Two in the tutorial below to see if that may help.

quick question: why is manually replacing the corrupt files listed after refreshing windows? wouldn't it be more convenient the other way?

It just depends on how many corrupted files you have, but they are just listed options that you can choose what would be best for your situation. Plus, manually replacing the system files could be complicated for those not comfortable or used to doing that.

Personally the dism option and doing SFC again afterwards usually works best.

ah, i see. i ran the dism command and after restarting my pc, tried sfc again....IT FOUND NO PROBLEMS!!!
the weird thing is that i ran the dism command that checked for problems but it didn't find any and then when i run the RestoreHealth command, the corrupt files disappeared

Yeah, a lot of people are reporting that the dism checks never finds anything but using /restorehealth still fixed the issue as well. Odd, but it works.
