I uninstalled a graphics driver last night, and it asked me to reboot. But I was installing something so I left it on, eventually the computer went to sleep and wouldn't wake up with keystrokes or mouse movements so I powered it down. Now when I turn the computer on it goes to a chkdsk (press any key within 1 second(s) ).

If I don't press anything the screen goes to a lighter black screen, then full black screen.
If I press a key, or even rapidly press (I've tried many times) it goes to a lighter black screen, then a full black screen.

I went into the Bios hoping to boot from a USB image I made, but still get the chkdsk message which prevents me from reaching a full boot.

There is no F8 option for some reason, I even tried rapidly spamming Shift+F8. Nothing works.

It seems that my computer is just done. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have a windows 8 boot CD, my Windows 8 came pre-installed (sadly)

Yeah, sorry forgot to add that. None of the F keys do anything.

Also, it seems that my computer is on, that it is at the login screen waiting for a password. I only figure this based on the fact that it goes to sleep after 15 minutes of being on, and the screen attempts to turn on every time I wake it up.

But after the Acer logo at the very beginning it goes black and stays black until I turn it off at which point I see the Acer logo again, followed once more by black.

The process from beginning to finish goes.

I push the power button.
The Acer screen comes up with the (Del) Bios option at the bottom right
A loading icon comes up (spinning white balls)
A few seconds in the chkdsk click any key within 1 second(s) message pops up
5 seconds later the screen goes to black
It stays black, I've waited between 10 seconds and 1 hour to see if anything happens
I push the power button to turn it off and try again

I've tried mashing buttons, I tried going into the Bios to boot in safemode (which isn't an option for windows 8, for some reason you have to be able to be in the main operating system to enable safemode which is counter intuitive to say the least.)

I've tried unplugging the computer and leaving it for 5 minutes to try again.

I've cleaned all the fans, but have not yet opened the casing or tampered with anything inside.

The fans are running. And the disk sounds like it is running as well.

The computer was working fine last night, I uninstalled ATI catalyst, and my driver (because I'm supposed to have an AMD HD Radeon 8760 card, which is what it said in my dxdiag display option, but after downloading and installing drivers for catalyst, my dxdiag display option read AMD Radeon 7000 series, so I uninstalled the driver and didn't restart immediately afterwards. And allowed the computer to go into sleep mode, from which it couldn't be reactivated (which happens frequently on this machine, forcing me to power down by holding the power button which I've had to do with this machine probably 100-250 times now) and it no longer turns on.

In the BIOS,are there Recovery options ?
Like choosing a restore point or doing a refresh or reset ?

As far as Safe Mode goes, I use :

WinAero: Boot UI Tuner

BootUI.

Everytime my computer restarts the option to boot into Safe Mode is presented, among other options.

If you manage to get it running again I highly recommend BootUI.!

It saved my computer from becoming a paperweight several times. :)

No recovery options, barely anything in the BIOS in fact.

Can BootUI possibly recover my PC?

You need to install it first & configure it.
Since your computer won't start, you can't install it. :(

You might have to take it to a computer repair shop & let them try to get it going.

If it gets to working then install BootUI.

I can help you set it up.

What if I bought a new SDD and Windows 7, and replaced the current HDD with the SDD. Would that fix this problem?
