sfc scan, found large amount of errors

Running windows 8 - came preinstalled
Did a windows 8 reset to "start fresh"
started to notice random freezing when right clicking on pictures/files/videos or windows explorer would stop being responsive at times or any other program here and there for a few seconds. this basically started happening right after the windows 8 reset was finished.
did a sfc scan and it found a huge amount of errors - least i think it did if i read it right -
the cbs file log is 10MB so too large to attach and everytime i try to copy and paste it the form freezes so can't do that either. If anyone here knows a lot about that kind of stuff I can email it to you so you can have a look and tell me what all needs to be fixed/what I should do I would greatly appricate it.

    Hello,

There is a tutorial in my signsture below on using the DISM command.
What you do is open Administrator command prompt & paste in or type in :

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Let it finish.Then REBOOT.

    Then run sfc /scannow.

    Post back with results please.

Hello vdena, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you like, you can use OPTION THREE in the tutorial below to create a sfcdetails.log file from the CBS.log. Afterwards, upload the sfcdetails.log, and I'll be happy to take a look at it.

    Hi
So I did the dism thing and it gave me an error code 87 ( not sure if that is normal or not?) anyway i restarted anyway and did a sfc/scannow and it got to 53% again before saying that windows resource protection found corrupt files and could not repair all of them. I did the option 3 as you said brink but now the file is 20MB big...

That size would be for the complete CBS.log file.

Instead, you would want to create the sfcdetails.log file as per the tutorial which would be a much smaller file.

That's what i did, on my desktop it says sfcdetails however when i click on properties to check file size it says 20.8MB - it dosen't have as much writing in it as the cbs log does but somehow it got bigger.

You may have made a mistake somewhere. I've never seen it anywhere near that large before. If you like, try OPTION THREE again double checking each step just in case a mistake was made.

Did you run it using the Administrator command prompt ?

Did you type it in correctly :

A screen shot of the command window with it typed in would be very helpful.

Quick scan & Full scan in System Security
As a practice if a Quick scan detects something I fix it & then run a Full scan & a boot time scan. Avast just detected 1 infection. When the scan is complete I will fix it & do as I stated above. I really should run scans more often, as should everyone. 46771
