So I did the dism thing and it gave me an error code 87 ( not sure if that is normal or not?) anyway i restarted anyway and did a sfc/scannow and it got to 53% again before saying that windows resource protection found corrupt files and could not repair all of them. I did the option 3 as you said brink but now the file is 20MB big...
Did you run it using the Administrator command prompt ?

Did you type it in correctly :

A screen shot of the command window with it typed in would be very helpful.

Oh never mind about that one, my bad, missed one key thing in the command, re-running that right now

Dism is at 20% currently, I will redo the sfcdetails log and see if i can post those results once its done and hopefully the file size will be small enough to attach

It is easy to make a typo.

Don't forget to REBOOT when DISM finishes...
    And run sfc AGAIN....

    It should come up clean.

Dism finished and this was the result from that ( screenshot attached )
sfc scan made it to 100% still detected some corrupt files, sfcdetails file is attached

The sfcdetails file is extremely small in the amount of writing in it now compaired to when I was trying to attach it before, so the dism managed to repair a lot of stuff and the sfc scan im guessing was able to then repair more of the problems except for the ones its listing now.

I suggest running them both again.
    A reboot after Dism.

If that won't help, refreshing may be needed.

Alright I will give them both another go and see if there is still corrupted files, if so. I wonder if just doing another complete reset would fix the problems that the first reset I did seemed to cause? I keep all my files for the most part on an external drive and my games are easy to redownload so a reset isn't a big deal for me.

    Yes.
    Refresh may be needed.
Glad you have so little stuff to lose in the refresh.

Quick scan & Full scan in System Security
As a practice if a Quick scan detects something I fix it & then run a Full scan & a boot time scan. Avast just detected 1 infection. When the scan is complete I will fix it & do as I stated above. I really should run scans more often, as should everyone. 46771
