Windows 8 bad FPS while screen recording/gaming

I run a triple monitor setup and in windows 7 i was able to be playing a game on my center monitor while screen capturing streaming video on the other with camtasia without any lag at all. Now in windows 8 when i do the same my fps is instantly cut in half in the game. The only time i had something similar happen in 7 was with aero on and it still wasn't anywhere near this big of a fps drop. I have all up to date drivers and an identical setup to what i was running in 7. Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

Yes i do, i setup the codec and everything exactly the same as well, is there something in windows 8 that's similar to turning off aero in 7? I already went into the settings and set it for performance and that made no difference at all. Thanks for the welcome.

I found another recorder called Mirillis Action that actually records using intel quicksync and it doesn't effect my FPS at all.

What video card do you have? Newer Nvidia and AMD cards allow you to use hardware encoders on the cards to record with little to no impact on other resources.
