    win 8 system retore

    I have read that two reasons could cause restore points not to be created automatically;
    services. msc not enabled
    2-task scheduler off.

I cannot find system restore or restore points in either place and am not sure what to do in either. Could someone kindly help me enable restore paints to be created automatically?
    Thank you

    Hello Peter,

When you have System Protection turned on for a hard drive, restore points are normally only created automatically every 7 days if changes have been made to the system and/or a restore point hasn't been created since the previous 7 days. Restore points are also sometimes created automatically before Windows Updates are installed.
If you like, you could also use these to make creating restore points easier.
    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    restore points

    HI Shawn
It shows Google's short comings as far as accurate, total information goes.
I appreciate your information and will see if the points are created automatically in a couple of weeks if we don't touch it and the other conditions are met.

I have a point in 12 -12 and one in 1-13 beside other normal ones in 2013.
The 2 old ones show up in system restore but not in Ccleaners toolbox. Is there some way to remove the 2 old ones that would be a problem if used by someone without destroying all the good ones? ?Cleanup system files?
    Thank you for your help.
    Peter

You might see if OPTION FOUR in the tutorial below may work to delete those two. What description and type does it have for those two?

    restore point

It says system image restore point and when I click affected programs a lot appear.

    I have Win 8 Pro.

Ccleaner does not see the two points.

The other program does not list Win 8 it only goes up to Win 7 and is Beta, if that is a concern.

Would it boil down to removing all but the last or leaving it as is?

I wonder if Tweaking.com registry back up should replace system restore and turn the latter off?

Thank you for the referrals; I wish they worked.

No worries, the program in OPTION FOUR works just fine in Windows 8 as well.

The restore point is one that is created automatically as part of when you create a system image. It's safe to delete it if the program lets you. However, you may need to use OPTION ONE to delete all restore points to remove it. The ones created for "Windows Backup" or "System Image" are not easy to delete just them.

I will try to work it out with your options and if no luck will have to flip a coin about leaving or clearing al but one.

    Thank you for your advice.
