    Defrag not working

So I tried to open defrag today for the first time with using Windows 8 and when I click on the application the command prompt opens and closes in about two seconds and then nothing happens. Any ideas on how to fix this issue.

    Hello Grier,

If the defrag isn't working using the method below, then you might see if running a sfc /scannow command to see if it may help.

Thanks Brink, got it working. Also was wondering what do you recommend the fragmentation to be at before a person does a defrag?

    You're most welcome.

I'd say probably around 10-15% or about once a month.

If you do a lot of saving and deleting on the drive, then maybe a little more often if needed.

    Hello Harry,

The built-in Disk Optimizer in Windows 8 will automatically defrag a HHD or TRIM a SSD. No worries.
