    Power Options Problems

    Hi

I get a lot of random freezing on Windows 8 on my Acer aspire laptop that has i5 core and 8gb of ram.
I was told to put my power option onto High Performance instead of balanced which is the recommended. I was also told that balance power and power saver both have bugs in them on Win 8 and this maybe the reason i am getting freezes. Has anyone else had this problem or is aware of it?

    Thank You for replying

    Andrew

Viewing through Windows 7, me like-a-discuss 8 though

What you're describing is a poor workaround made for not having updated drivers AND/OR having poor 3rd party junk drivers.

Choose the power plan you would like as they are all fine and well, while paying attention to my previous sentence.

Keep drivers updated and don't install junky software. Research on Google if any software is in question.

There is no "massive" difference between those options. If you look closely, only the settings are different. For example, the screen-saver and turning off the hard-drive when not in use are enabled in the Balanced option. I'm not aware of any bugs with these options.

Also, you have Windows 8 "Release Preview" listed under your "OS". Perhaps you should consider upgrading to the official Windows 8 and get the latest patches. That will likely remedy any issues you're facing.

Check your system for unwanted programs that attached themselves with normal programs.

Run Spybot Search and Destroy v1.62 (not 2.0)

It will flush those annoying ads, web redirectors, hijackers, toolbars and other malicious programs that overload your system..

Also do a chkdsk /f from the command prompt, for errors on the drive that cause the system to stutter and pause when reading data..

And check with your normal virus scanner as well..

The power settings will not cause problems unless they are tweaked to the point where the user forgets what theyve done and are unable to restore the original settings..

Lastly, if youve done allot of installing and uninstalling of programs and also moving files on and off your computer, you should defrag the harddrive. Ive only had this OS on a month and I was already 15% fragmented, from the constant modifications and testing..
