    Odd Boot Behavior Just Started

not sure what i did, perhaps i broke something, but my system is now behaving oddly when it boot into windows, when it loads windows. up until recently windows loaded very fast, bam, right to the metro start menu. now when it loads metro flashes for about a second, then my desktop flashes for about three seconds (without displaying any of the desktop icons), then the metro page appears again and, after about five seconds it's as if the metro page refreshes, it flashes on and off again, very quickly. my system still loads very quickly, but i have to now wait for it to go through it's little light show.

i though that perhaps a service with a delayed start might be causing the problem but they all look good and are set to w8 default - sfc /scannow reports that everything is aok as well. i've used ccleaner a few times to clean up some registry strays (i know some warn against it, but it has never caused me any problems in the past), but my system was fine after using, so i'm not sure this is the problem albeit maybe it made some changes when i ran it later, which is causing the problem. anyone else experience anything like this? any thoughts?

If it's "just started", use System Restore (Win+R - rstrui)

My friend's new Toshiba laptop has started having intermittent touchpad problems. When using DPI scaling in Windows 8.1, I've noticed that different programs are scaled in different ways: Scaling fully supported: This results in the best experience by far, but it seems only a handful of Windows components (e.g. Windows Explorer and Control Panel) as well as Office 2013 have...
