Hi there!! I have an Intel Core I3 Sony Vaio E! I just updated my laptop to windows 8 about 2 months ago.
3 days ago, I encountered something on startup. It was the iolorgdf program not found - skipping autocheck.
it didn't affect the boot up time like it is now. (which is about 56.8s at average) So i decided to go to registry and proceded to delete the registry that runs the iolorgdf32 program. After I deleted it, the error was solved but the boot time (and the login time combined) is now takes a freakin' minute!? before I encountered this problem it was at maximum 14-19s. So what should I do?? I know windows 8 takes about 8-12s boot up time, how can I improve my laptop like that?

Fast replies are very much appreciated!! :D

Hi there
Have you a load of USB devices inserted into the system at boot. Sometimes - especially USB drives -- cause the BIOS (rather than Windows itself) to spend some time while it detects the USB hardware and initializes its routines. It's best (unless booting from a USB device) to remove all USB devices except keyboards / mice.

Well, to get your laptop to boot in 8-12 seconds, you need a very fast ssd and corei7 proc, plus all external hdds and other things should be disconnected, cause thay can take long time ti initialize.

now that you've mention it, I do have a wireless mouse which needs to have a "transmitter"(?) for it to function. I don't take it off when i'm booting my laptop. I'll post the results but for now is there anything else that I need to know to make my boot time faster?
BTW thanks for the quick replies!! Thanks a lot!! :D

Well, i dont think that wireless mouse can cause such an issue, you better should check things like startup programs for unnecesary programs that starts with windows, "event viewer -> system" for system errors.

Hi there
The CPU power is largely irrelevant in boot up times -- 90% of the process is actually I/O and then starting the GUI so an SSD even on a low powered laptop will speed things up dramatically. (Always assuming there's enough RAM). Ensure also you haven't defined a HUGE paging file too.

Ensure that you have switched off the hibernation as well --you don't really need it.

Why don't you for a test do the following

1) Back up the system.
2) Now re-install it again say either via an install disk / usb or via the REFRESH/ RESET.
3) test the boot time.

4) Now make a note of what services and programs are running.

5) restore your old OS
6) remove services and programs that aren't in the list you made at step 4)

Stand alone bootable backup and restore should on average only take around 20 mins per backup and the same per restore in the WORST case. You can use something like Free Macrium - I use ATH 2013 - but that's a paid for program.

i already have only rocketdock and synapsis that're checked during startup. still, the boot time takes a minute NOW before i fixed the iologdf2 issue. I'm going to do what jimbo said and reinstall the windows. thanks!

Try to run 'Autoruns" from Sysinternals and check for outdated or invalid paths in startup sequences, marked in yellow.
Some files stick in startup sequences even if they came from removable media or somehow changed drive letter paths. If you login now and the removable media path is not found, the system seems to search for it. This can cause login glitches.
