Cloning Windows 8 Build to SSD - Concerns

Hello all, Ive done some searching around the Forums and this seems like a great place for info. While ive seen some posts regarding SATA, AHCI, and SSD's I did not see a thread that addressed this specific concern. My buddy just bought a new laptop. It has an OEM install of Windows 8, and Office 2013. He recently bought a SSD to boost the performance of his new laptop & needs my help with installation. My first thought was to make a clone img (CloneZilla etc..) of the existing install, to make the process as painless as possible. With an SSD one would want to enable AHCI in BIOS prior to install though, and I'd immagine the existing build does not contain the required driver. - Has anyone run into this scenario? Would I be better off obtaining his OEM licenses and building from scratch?

Unknown new laptop, would be set to AHCI by OEM.

I would look for a 3rd party Partitioning,Backup & Cloning software, which fully supports Windows 8, uEFI, GPT & Secure Boot.
Which is signed by Microsoft.

I am not sure if it is or not at this point just want to make sure I have everytihng together before I get started. Its been my experience with OEM builds in the past that they have IDE enabled by default.

I used Paragon Hard Disk Manager to copy my Windows 8 disk image from a HDD to an SSD, it actually has an SSD migration feature, so I didn't have to worry whatsoever with any of the settings, it did it all. The transition went faultlessly. Since then, I keep using Paragon to copy the SSD image regularly to the HDD, as a backup, should anything go astray.
