Reply from Samsung about drive optimzation a SSD in Win 8

    Hello Guys,

Here is my reply from Samsung about drive optimization in Windows 8. I'll post my original question after and their first reply:-

    Hope this is some use

please have a look to the following link
it seems not to be necessary to disable the defrag on the SSD in W8

I have just fitted a MZ-7PD512 SSD to my computer. I have run the Magician software and read the documentation that has come with it. You suggest that the defrag is switched off, I have 3 hard drives in my system , 2 normal HDD''''s (D: and E and the boot drive is the SSD (C.

I''''d like to be able to defrag my 2 HDD''''s occasionally and leave defrag switched on with the SDD not selected in the defrag option screen. I have done some research on the internet and I have read in several places that it is ok to leave defrag switched on in Windows 8 as the operating system will detect my SSD and not defrag it and will offer some optimisation with the trim and garbage collection.

Could you please confirm on my system with 3 hard drives, 2 HDD''''s and 1 SSD if I am OK to leave defrag enabled on Windows 8 or do you still recommend it is disabled.

    thank you for your email.

Based on our information Windows 8 works little bit differently from W7, so
it should recognized the differences between HDD and SSD and not perform the
    defrag on the SSD.

I'll double check again with our engineer and I get extra info I'll come back
    to you.
