I have a AIO Sony Vaio Tap 20 that I really like, but I want to run off of a different HDD that is a hybrid drive (SSD + HDD) to increase the responsiveness. I have cloned the drive using Macrium's Reflect, but the drive won't boot. At power up, it says "a required device isn't connected" and I can get into several things like the BIOS, but the BIOS is so sparse there isn't anything to do. If I put the original drive back in, all works.

Sony claims that cloning isn't supported, but I wonder how it even knows the drive is different. I wonder if I can overcome it.

With macrium create a full disk image to an external drive, replace the hybrid drive for the new one and restore the previously created image.

I see
I tried to install new ssd drive
Installation went well and then I was at the last step of Recovery and the system died
Could not get to the Bios under any circumstances
Had to order a replacement
I do not know if the crash was my cause or a fluke

Even putting in original drive did not help the condition
Wireless and power lights kept staying on
Very bizarre
Sony Tech support were of no use
They have no knowledge of this particular unit
I guess it is to new
