    Default.migrated

I did a search in google for "Default.migrated" and found the same question here,
New folder "Default.migrated" in the "Users" folder - Microsoft Community.
In Microsoft Community the answer was - "Default.Migrated" folder has appeared because you have upgraded from Windows 7 to windows 8.

"Default.Migrated" folder was a path that contained your user account settings and data.

You can leave it alone, as it contains migrated user settings and data.

The thing is this is not a very informative answer.
I just upgraded a Vista machine to Windows 8 Pro. While doing some cleaning up I found this folder. I like things clean & neat.
Why is this folder here & how can it be deleted? Or should it be deleted?
Oh yes, it only shows up under the network tab.
Right now it looks like no one in the Microsoft Community has an answer either.
Another Thread was started with the name of "rejoined homegroup" and is asking the same question.

I've deleted this folder my self and didn't have any issues. If I'm correct, there's nothing of value inside the folder (please verify). From what I've found out from folks I work with, this is similar to the Windows.Old folder. You shouldn't have any problems by killing it.

    Thanks,

Everything I've read so far states that it's from doing an upgrade. Which mine is not. Clean install from created ISO on a empty formatted hdd.

Did you create the ISO using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant?

One post states in part - "On my system that was upgraded from Windows 7 the Default.Migrated folder only contained a Documents folder with three Junction Points (My Music, My Pictures, My Videos). Junction Points do not contain any data.

I deleted the Default.Migrated folder and have not seen any problems."

This confirms what you are saying JLyman.
Good to here that it worked. If you created your ISO from the W8 upgrade assistant, that's probably where it came from as it builds the necessary structure for your system and lets you create an ISO for your system and a part of that process is prepping for migration.

This confirms what you are said. Looks like the "Default.migrated" folder should be able to be deleted without any trouble.

I took the plunge and did not get Default.migrated deleted.

Looks like I do not have permissions. Do not know how I did that and now I need to know how to give myself permission.
Start at the top box then go below then to Windows Security then down.
Tried on the 4 items in the top box and the same happens.

    Windows 8.1

    Hi,

I noticed this folder (Default.migrated and sub folder Documents - both empty) after replacing a Microsoft Account with a Local Account (Windows 8.1). There were no problems after deleting these folders (yet).
