Storage Volume

In Device Manager with show hidden devices, under Storage volumes, I have 14 Generic volume shadow copy. 9 of them are grayed out. Under Storage Volumes I have 33 Generic volumes. 9 of then are grayed out. Is this normal? Is it safe to delete the grayed out ones?

I do have them as well, just leave them alone.

When reading this post I became really curious to find out if I had some hidden storage drives as well. And it turns out.... I do!!!

I think this has something to do with USB drives that were once connected to the system. When I look under "Disk stations" for instance, I can see all the memory sticks that I've used the last months.

So perhaps this is a sort of "memory" which will make it easier and faster for the system when a device is connected again?

I read some where else that they were copies of backups and restore points. I really don't know. I ran the disk clean up utility, and did system files and did clean system restore points and shadow copies, all but the last. They are all still there.
