Oops! I lost the eBay auction for the i5-3750k and I was going to buy the i7-3770k, but it's an "in store" fdeal only and we do not have Micro Center anywhere near us, so I'll see what I can get the best deal on... I'll start with Amazon. Thanks again!!

Here we go!! My work buddy told me there's a Micro Center near Detroit and I went online and bought the i7-3770k and I'm driving to the store at lunch to pick it up!! Thanks again!!

The i7 is a better choice for the extra cores. The i5 had no hyper-threading.
For the rest it seems those cpu's are brothers made from exactly the same specs:

The performance is better for i7 as expected, but not that much on stock speeds:

I'm happy to have purchased the i7-3770k for $229!! Now as soon as my DDR3 RAM and Intel DZ77GAL-70K arrive, I'll start assembling!

Solid deal on that cpu. I'm using a 3770 at work, but I spent about 300 on it 6 months ago.

Yes, and I got a great deal on the "new, in box" Intel DZ77GAL-70K motherboard. It's a $200 motherboard and I paid $114 for it. I'm running under budget on the build and that's a good thing!!

Good deal for you Art! Nothing like being able to buy quality parts and save money at the same time.

    Great work Art!

The way you are describing your hunt for a new computer is really infectious. But I have to control myself.... my pc in 'only' 2,5 years old now.... must control....must control......
