Internet + Shut downs hanging

Hi all

I have just upgraded to Win 8 Pro, from Win 7 Ultiamate, and so far its been ok'ish but i have a few questions

1) Internet connection - On win 7 as soon as i was in desktop i could load IE instantly, but now it takes about 20 seconds to connect to the internet (suspect something is hanging) but how do i find out what and fix it? Drivers all checked and appear to be up to date?

2) Shut down - To shut down in Win 7 i used to click start>Shutdown and the computer would tun off within 5 seconds. But with Win 8 shut down (which is so awkward) the screen turns off but the computer stays on for about 1 min? any ideas? And if or how i can make it so that i can shut down the 'old' way?

3) Loading Time: Is there a way that i can speed up the loading time? Its quick, but i have seen other peoples loading a lot quicker. Mine tends to load on the Win 8 logo for a bit longer - I know this is not exactly a problem but i like to optimise my machine for the best/fastest possible if that makes sense

4) OS size - Win 8 Pro takes up 80GB of space on my SSD - is that right? I have managed to delete the Win.old file using system clean up that saved me 10gb, but its still using a lot - 80gb??

#4. That seems to be high, Windows OS takes up 16GB/20GB disk space , depending if you have 32/64bit.

ah somethin aint right then! hmm..

Maybe i should format and start again? Starting to think this was a bad idea lol

edit - it is 64bit tho. Will that make much difference?

Yeah something isn't right or removed properly. You should format and reinstall it if it isn't to much of a hassle. 64bit should take up 20Gb disk space and hopefully this fixes all your other lag/slow issues.
